Volunteers can help in so many ways! The SHHM is looking for people who are interested in helping us here in Rochester. When the weather is warm, we work in shifts at the storage units on Highway 14 (Lock Away Storage—2505 North Frontage Road, Hwy 14 in Rochester) getting them sorted and packed and ready to ship. If you’d like to be put on a contact list to be notified when we need help, please email Lisa Jessen, see below.
Another way to help is to organize a “drive” of some kind:
· Collect school supplies and bring them to us to ship in the container
· Individuals and groups get together and sew cloth diapers, dresses, shorts, quilts
· Collect bed sheets (all sizes)—Sheets are used for a variety of things
· Collect new and gently used shoes & socks (all sizes)
· Collect empty pill bottles. (These are used to dispense medicine to those who come seeking medical attention at the Sisters’ hospitals). Everyone has empty pill bottles! Why not send them to Haiti where they can be put to good use? Please rinse them first.
