As we grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ, we grow in an awareness that all we are and all we have is from the Lord. As followers (disciples) of Jesus, we are called to be good stewards of the gifts which God has entrusted to us. Getting involved in the ministries and programs of the parish is an important way of using one's gifts and being a good steward. This is what stewardship is all about.
Holy Spirit parish is vibrant and alive because parishioners willingly share their gifts & talents to strengthen our church community. There are many ways to be involved.
Perhaps the most important aspect of stewardship, especially in today’s world, is the management of the gift of time. Calendars seem to fill without us even being aware of whether we are making the best use of our time. Time is a gift from God. We are required to return a portion of that time to God and to use the rest of our time in a way that gives glory to God. Being a member of Holy Spirit Parish requires that we commit to sharing our time with our community in worship, fellowship, and ministry. When we accept the challenge of putting God first, our attitudes, priorities and spiritual lives will change.
Central to the practice of stewardship is a generous sharing of our unique talents. When we step forward and share our abilities justly and lovingly with others, we add our own special flavor to this community and by doing so, help fulfill the mission of the church. Holy Spirit Parish offers many ways to share your gifts and exercise your responsibility in your mission for others.
Financial commitment is a component of stewardship (but, as you see, not the only component). Our parish addresses the needs of its members with a wide variety of programs and ministries. These require a committed staff, a well-cared-for facility and the material needs to run the programs (lights, heat, paper, pencils, etc.). These require our generous financial support.
